Other Websites¶
Some logins work at more than one site. A company may send you to its own sign-in site, on another address, to sign in to its shop. Or one username and password may open a whole family of sites. Other Websites lets one login hold every site where it is used. It stays one item: you don't need a copy of it for each site.
Adding them¶
Other Websites sits straight under the Website in the item's editor. It is there for a login that has a Website: a new login, or any item whose template has Contains Login Credentials on (see Item Templates).
- Edit the login.
- Under Other Websites, type the other site in the empty row, for example
example.com. - As you type, a new empty row appears below it, ready for the next site.
- Save the login.
Under the rows, the editor reminds you what they are for: "Other sites where this login is used, such as a company's own sign-in site. AutoFill offers the login on each."
To take one away, clear its row. An empty row is let go when you save.

In New Login, choose the Type and Template before you type any Other Websites:
Choosing another Type or Template in New Login clears the Other Websites you have typed.
Choosing another Type or Template in New Login keeps the Other Websites you have typed.
What is kept¶
Each of Other Websites is kept the way the Website is:
- If you leave out
https://, it is put in front for you. - Each site is kept once, whatever its capitals.
- The login's own Website is never kept a second time here.
- A row that isn't a web address stops the save. The editor marks it and says: "The website is not an address a browser could open."
On the item¶
When you open the login, its other sites are listed under its Website, the first under the heading Other Websites. Each works just like the Website:
Tap a site to copy it. Open Site beside it opens it in your browser.
Click a site to copy it, or drag it into a field. Open Site beside it opens it in your browser.
The lists still show the login once, under its name.
Signing in at one of its sites¶
AutoFill offers the login at every one of its sites. iOS is told of the login at each of them, so it can suggest the login above the keyboard there.
When you open Private Passwords' list from the keyboard, the page's own logins come first. A login is one of them when its Website, or any of its Other Websites, shares the page's core word: the main word of the site's name. For example, vista is the core word of vista.com.au and of account.vista.com.au, and google is the core word of both google.com and google.com.au. The logins closest to the page's address come first. Everything else waits behind Show Other Logins.
The Share card works the same way: shared from a page, it lists the logins whose Website or Other Websites share the page's core word.
When you drop a page on the menu bar key, the pane lists the logins of the page's site (its domain, such as example.com), found by their Website alone. Other Websites aren't looked at there.
To use a login at one of its Other Websites, open it from the panel and drag its values into the page.
See Dropping a Page on the Key and Dragging a Value into a Form.
Elsewhere in the app¶
- Importing: when a login from another app has more than one web address, the first becomes its Website and the others become its Other Websites. An address that isn't a web address, such as an app's link, is kept as a URL field instead. See Importing from Another App.
- Merging: when two logins are merged, the Other Websites of both are kept. See Merging Duplicates.
- Backups: a backup carries Other Websites, and a restore brings them back. See Making and Restoring a Backup.
- Credential Health, and Merge's search for duplicates, go by the Website alone.
